Course Credits
The credit for each course is indicated after the title in the course description. One credit is equivalent to one collegiate semester-hour credit.

Course Hours
The number of lecture hours in class each week (including lecture, seminar, and discussion hours) and/or the number of laboratory hours in each week (including laboratory, shop, supervised practice, and cooperative work experiences) are indicated for each course in the course description. In addition to the lecture and laboratory hours in class each week, students must spend time on out-of-class assignments under their own direction.
Prerequisites and Corequisites
If any prerequisites are required before enrolling in a course, they will be identified in the course description or by an indication of course sequence. Courses listed as ACC 111-ACC 112 and ENG 111-ENG 112, for example, must be taken in sequence unless otherwise noted in the course description. Courses in special sequences (usually identified by the numerals I-II or I-II-III) must also be taken in sequence unless otherwise noted in the course description. The prerequisites must be completed satisfactorily before enrolling in a course unless special permission is obtained from the school dean or designee. Corequisite courses are to be taken simultaneously.

The following General Usage Courses apply to multiple curricula and may carry a variety of prefix designations. Course descriptions are normally identical for each prefix:
Coordinated Internship 90-190-290
- Provides supervised on-the-job training in selected health agencies, business, industrial, or service firms coordinated by the college
- Credit/practice ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours
- May be repeated for credit
- Variable hours
Studies In 93-193-293
- Covers new content not covered in existing courses in the discipline
- Allows instructor to explore content and instructional methods to assess the course’s viability as a permanent offering
- Variable hours
Topics In 95-195-295
- Provides opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students
- May be used also for special honors courses
- May be repeated for credit
- Variable hours
On-Site Training 96-196-296
- Specializes in career orientation and training program without pay in selected businesses and industry, supervised and coordinated by the college
- Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5hours
- May be repeated for credit

Cooperative Education 97-197-297
- Provides on-the-job training for pay in approved businesses, industrial, and service firms
- Applicable to all occupational/technical curricula at the discretion of the college
- Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours

Seminar and Project 98-198-298
- Requires completion of a project or research report related to the student’s occupational objective and a study of approaches to the selection and pursuit of career opportunities in the field

- Assigns problems for independent study incorporating previous instruction and supervised by the instructor
