PURPOSE
The Computer Programmer Career Studies Certificate (CSC) prepares students to design and implement traditional/legacy stand-alone and client-server applications using procedural and object-oriented development techniques.
OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The Computer Programmer CSC prepares students for entry-level positions including:
- Analyst
- Computer Programmer
- Software Developer
- Web Programmer
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Implement basic programming concepts including control flow, methods, data structures, OOP, and exception handling
- Understand and apply SQL skills including queries, functions, stored procedures, design, and security
- Develop MVC applications focusing on architecture, data access, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) implementation
- Manage web and database server setup and interactions
- Create Use Case models and ERDs working through all development lifecycle stages of a large, cross-discipline project
- Implement database connections, delegates, collections, interfaces, LINQ, and Entity Framework

General college curricular admission
PROGRAM NOTES
- The Computer Programmer CSC fulfills the IT concentration electives in the Information Systems Technology Associate of Applied Science degree
- IT courses used for this program may not be more than 10 years old
- Students should check their advisement report in SIS and meet with their faculty advisor
