PURPOSE

The Web Development Career Studies Certificate (CSC) develops website creation and management skills. Coursework helps to prepare students for the CIW Web Foundations Associate and CIW Web Design Specialist certifications.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Implement responsive web design techniques to create websites that adapt to different screen sizes and devices
  • Build websites that include both JavaScript and JQuery
  • Design accessible websites following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Write HTML and CSS code using responsive design
  • Perform basic database administration tasks including creating and maintaining database tables, managing users, and optimizing query performance
  • Design relational database schemas that adhere to normalization principles
  • Create entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) to model database structures

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • General college curricular admission

PROGRAM NOTES

  • The Web Development CSC fulfills the IT concentration electives in the Information Systems Technology Associate of Applied Science degree
  • IT courses used for this program may not be more than 10 years old
  • Students should check their advisement report in SIS and meet with their faculty advisor
