OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Small businesses represent the majority of U.S. businesses and can be started at a low cost and on a part-time basis.
The Business Management Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program prepares students for self-employment and careers in small business, focusing on practical aspects of small business and business ownership.
Program graduates have the knowledge and skills required to operate a successful business, including:
- Computer service business
- Day care center
- Franchise
- Printing service
- Restaurant
- Retail store
- …or any micro-business
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Communicate effectively using multiple methods (oral, written, graphic, electronic)
- Identify and analyze ethical issues in business
- Develop and present a marketing plan and business plan
- Analyze financial statements using generally accepted accounting principles
- Demonstrate the ability to function effectively as a team member
- Use critical problem-solving and decision-making skills to solve problems based on accepted business principles
- Execute the four functions of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling
- Recognize major components of human resource management decision-making

COMPUTER COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT
Students in this program will meet the Reynolds computer competency requirement by successfully completing ITE 152 . Students can also meet this requirement by passing the Reynolds Computer Competency Exam, administered in the Testing Centers on each campus, in which case they will receive college credit for ITE 152 . Students not passing the Computer Competency Exam may retake the exam only once.
