PURPOSE
The Cyber Security Career Studies Certificate (CSC) prepares students to recognize and prevent threats to data, information systems, and master techniques for defense against such attacks. Coursework helps to prepare students for the CompTIA Security+ Certification.
OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The Cyber Security CSC prepares students for entry-level positions inlcuding:
- Cyber Security Specialist
- Help Desk Specialist
- Information Security Analyst
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Analyze various cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities including malware, phishing, social engineering, and network attacks
- Explain core concepts of cybersecurity including confidentiality, integrity, and availability
- Evaluate importance of cybersecurity in protecting information assets
- Implement incident response and recovery procedures, including how to prepare for and respond to security incidents and breaches
- Apply ethical and legal considerations in cybersecurity including privacy laws, compliance requirements, and ethical hacking

PROGRAM NOTES
- The Cyber Security CSC fulfills the IT concentration electives in the Information Systems Technology Associate of Applied Science degree
- IT courses used for this program may not be more than 10 years old
- Students should check their advisement report in SIS and meet with their faculty advisor
